Taylor Starting Season in Non-Wing Sprint Car Saturday at El Paso County Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (April 24, 2019) – Zac Taylor will begin his 2019 sprint car season in a different way – non-wing style.

Taylor, who hasn’t raced since the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in January, will be embarking on a different experience – a non-wing sprint car powered by a 360ci engine. In the past few years he has competed in midgets and in a 305ci winged sprint car.

“We had horrible luck at the Chili Bowl,” he said. “I’m ready to put that behind me and get this racing season started. I’m very excited to race a non-wing sprint car. Then in a couple of weeks I get to race a modified on asphalt. I’m just trying to gain as much experience in as many forms of racing as possible.”

Taylor said the family-owned sprint car had to be stripped to have the new safety bars added to the roll cage as many organizations are now requiring.

“It’s at the powder coating place and we should pick it up Friday and get it assembled and ready to go for Saturday,” he said. “Everything is new on the car this year.”

Saturday’s event is with the Lucas Oil POWRi Warrior Sprint Series at El Paso County Raceway in nearby Calhan, Colo.

“We have a lot of laps around that place with the 305 winged car,” he said. “This will be completely different and I’m excited for the challenge.”

As for the 2019 season, Taylor said he and Todd Henry will once again team up for midget events. Taylor added that the plans for his family owned 360ci winged sprint car are to “get to some bigger races in the region.”
