Enduro Race is Back at 281 Speedway!
After an absence of many years from 281 Speedway, an Enduro Race will be happening at the race track again in the Super Saturday 200 event in February and the Star Spangle 200 event in July 2 each year. While there are regularly exciting races happening at the race track, people had been clamoring for the popular form of racing called Enduro Racing. The popularity of Enduro Racing has been rising in the past few years, thanks to its inherently fun and light hearted nature. The total purse is $10,000 while there is a guaranteed prize of $2,000 for the person who wins the race. There has been a lot of activity on social media by excited drivers and attendees, some even posting the pictures of the cars they intend to race with. Enduro Racing is very different from other forms of racing usually seen at venues like this. As evidenced by the name, the races are about endurance instead of being purely about speed. Instead of focusing on who can drive the fastest, the focus is on who has the most skill in maneuvering vehicles around the dirt track. There can be anywhere from 50 to a 100 vehicles in an Enduro Race and the number of laps is very high. The 281 Speedway Enduro Races will have 200 laps around the track. The objective for the drivers is to complete the race and win it. A lot of cars are packed in a single location, which creates great spectacle for the viewers as the cars dodge around other cars. An extensive set of rules can be read on the website outlining what is required in order to participate in the event. Safety features are a must in every vehicle but there are some rules which may surprise people unfamiliar with Enduro Racing. One of the most exciting aspects of the race is that the cars are mostly in their stock form and only visual modifications are allowed. The cars are also not allowed to have rear view mirrors. If someone’s car stops working or is hit so bad that it cannot race, it is removed from the course. Enduro Racing is not a new type of event, 281 Speedway began its journey hosting Enduro Races every Sunday afternoon, weather permitting. Racers have been competing in Enduro Races for decades now; however, the popularity of the race is increasing due to social media. Videos and pictures of Enduro events regularly get shared on social media due to how different they are from normal racing. This has aroused more curiosity in the younger generation. It has also become much easier to arrange and market events through social media. Another reason that Enduro Races are so popular is the atmosphere. Since races are not based purely on speed, the atmosphere is very friendly and entertaining. People come to these races to see how the cars are going make their way to the last lap, so there usually are no people in the stands who are not having fun. This leads to a lot of entertainment. The race goes on until someone completes the 200 laps or there is only one car left standing. It is a totally unique way of racing, where a car breakdown is inevitable for almost everyone except for the winner. All these entertaining instances are only possible due to the great measures taken for the safety for the driver of the vehicle. There are prizes for the positions 1st to 15th. Another reason that Enduro Races are so popular is the atmosphere. Since races are not based purely on speed, the atmosphere is very friendly and entertaining. People come to these races to see how the cars are going to hit each other and make their way, so there usually are no people in the stands who are not having fun. Any racer who wants to compete is encouraged to contact the organizers as soon as possible through the event website. Only the first 100 entries are being selected, and once 100 entrants are done, other people will not be able to take a part in the race. Registration at the venue on the day of the race will only be available if someone cancels or 100 entrants are not selected; racers are encouraged to check the website for registration information and details. 281 Speedway will be the official home for the Super Saturday 200 & Star Spangle 200 each year. The Speedway has a long history of being a fine venue for racing and has been active for more than 20 years now. There will be weekly races at the track and there is a fun variety of race types, from demolition derbies to children’s power wheel races. The fun atmosphere present at 281 Speedway ensures that people come back again and again, which has also made it popular with race promoters and managers, C&S Promotions.
