MARS Super Late Model Series in Spotlight on Busy Friday Night

Some call it the dog days of summer, but we just think of it as beautiful racing weather. In either case, this mid-summer Friday night will see the MARS Super Late Model Racing Series in their first visit to the Bloomington clay, presented by JB’s Salvage. Bloomington’s $3,000-to-win 40-lap feature is the opening act in the Hall of Fame Weekend, which concludes with the $10,000-to-win Hall of Fame Classic at Brownstown Speedway on Saturday. A large field of super late models is expected on both nights, with many top area drivers including Bloomington’s Kent Robinson competing.

It will be a full night of racing, with a total of five divisions, including the AJ Bowlen Realtor ReMax Acclaimed Properties UMP Modifieds, Brandeis Machinery Super Stocks, MMSA Winged MiniSprints and Bombers in competition.

It is also Military Appreciation Night at the oval, hosted by the US Army Recruiting Office in Bloomington. In addition to Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, there will be displays and equipment, as well as information tables in the grandstand area. Active duty military, reservists and guard members will be admitted free, and veterans at half price.

The Speedway will also host both the South Central Indiana Building Trades and Bobcat of Bloomington, with staff, family and clients enjoying a special night of racing at the track. Look for Bobcat equipment that is always available for rental or sale, to be on display around the grounds.

The gates will open at 5:30, with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:30. General admission is just $15 and kids ages 12 and under are free with an adult. The pit gate will open at 4:30, and pit passes are $30.
