NSA Shootout Offering Enhanced Purse and Giveaways This Weekend at Castrol Raceway for Jim Albert Memorial Gold Cup

Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (Aug. 22, 2016) – The 61st annual Jim Albert Memorial Gold Cup features an enhanced purse as well as multiple giveaways.

The two-day 360ci winged sprint car event this Friday and Saturday at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is the middle doubleheader during the six-race, three-weekend NSA Shootout. This Friday’s feature pays $2,000 to win with Saturday’s main event providing $4,000 to win, $2,000 for second, $1,500 for third and at least $400 to start. All money is paid in United States currency.

Additionally, a sponsor has covered the entry fee for every sprint car driver, each team that competes in both nights will leave with at least $500 in U.S. dollars and a number of free hotel rooms are available for teams that commit early enough.

“Gold Cup is Canada’s oldest oval racing event and is one of the most prestigious to win in the country and now there’s even more incentive for the racers this year with a good payout each night and numerous giveaways,” NSA Shootout Founder Mike Quigley said. “We’re excited to partner with Rob Reeves and his great team at Castrol Raceway this weekend. I think it will be an outstanding show each night.”

The NSA Shootout would also like to thank Dewar Western Inc., Joan Albert and Family, Carlan Services, Ron Hodgson Chevrolet, North American Diesel Performance, Northern Collision, Central Tire, B&R Recovery Inc., All West Auto Parts, Xtreme Oilfield Technologies, SpeedMart, Castrol Raceway, DC Signs, King Racing Products, 82 Ave Lo-Cost Automatic Transmission, Triple X Racing Components, CRI Rutz Racing, ProWest Motorsports, Airways Country Inn, Blackjacks Roadhouse and Pulse Racing Innovations for support of the event.

Quigley and Ron MacDonell shared this sentiment about Jim Albert and the Gold Cup:

“To say Jim Albert was a car enthusiast would be just scratching the surface of the man. He was a collector extraordinaire. He has more than 400 cars in various conditions and I’m sure Joan would call it something else other than a ‘collection.’ Jim was much more than a collector of cars. He was also a collector of misfits, down on your luck and yes, some of the criminal element worked for him over the years as well. Jim believed in second chances; where others would not hire, Jim would. I used to kid Jim that he has Canada’s most wanted working for him in one capacity or another.

“Jim was a motor head through and through. His love of sprint car racing is legendary, from having as many as six teams racing under his banner at one time to selflessly lending motors, cars and even trailers so competitors could make it out the next weekend. Don’t get me wrong, Jim was a fierce competitor, he expected you to perform and represent him with class and respect.

“The Gold Cup epitomises what Jim stood for – fair and equal competition and may the best team win!”

Following this weekend’s doubleheader the NSA Shootout will wrap up on Sept. 9-10 at Billings Motorsports Park in Billings, Mont., where the opening night will pay $2,000 to win and the finale $7,500 to win and $500 to start.
