Richards Snags A Grand At Deer Creek

It was a hot and sultry night this week at Deer Creek Speedway. The night featured “Christmas In July along with the annual Mascot Night and School Bus Races that were rained out last month.

The event was presented by the Essig Agency, Titan Pro, Blake Trucking and the Osage Co-op. Another great field of 111-cars filled the pit area along with seven school buses.

The Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds rolled on to the track first for their 18-lap feature. Dylan Goettl led lap one while Mitch Weiss quickly worked from ninth to second. Weiss challenged for the lead as Dan Wheeler got to third.

Weiss took the lead on lap five but Calvin Iverson was on the move into the top five. Iverson passed Spencer Stock for the fourth spot on lap five. ivermectine generique Back up front Goettl challenged Weiss for the lead and they were close. Iverson challenged Wheeler for fourth when Don Schaefer broke to bring out the yellow. On the restart, Jacob Toepper broke and stopped in the turn one exit and the caution waved again.

Iverson took off on the restart and darted to second. Iverson then dove low on Weiss and stole the lead on lap seven. Three more yellows would slow the race and when the fifth caution came out on lap 11, five laps were shaved off the distance to set up a two lap dash to the finish.

Iverson led the pack to the checkered flag for his first ever Deer Creek win. Wheeler got by Weiss for second and Weiss was third. Jason Haugerud rallied from the 15th spot to finish fourth and Ryan Wetzstein was fifth.

The Adams Graphix WISSOTA Street Stocks raced for $1000 to win their 25-lap feature this week. Twenty-one cars took the green flag and Troy Voth led followed closely by Kory Adams and defending national champion Justin Vogel. Adams challenged Voth but a caution slowed their battle. ivermectin gor insect bites

On the restart, Adams bolted to the lead and Vogel took over second. Parker Anderson now raced Voth for third but another caution on lap six slowed the race. Danny Richards came alive on the start and flew to third and was right with the lead duo.

Richards battled Vogel for second and they were all over Adams the leader. Rciahrds used the low groove to drive past both Vogel and Adams to take the lead on lap eight. The top five all raced close at this point in the race.

Eyes watched Dustin Doughty and Nick Schwebach who started 20th and 21st after being disqualified in their heat races for tech infractions. ivermectin pour-on for humans They worked through traffic and raced their way towards the front. Another caution flew on lap nine to keep things tight.

Richards held the lead and Doughty went three wide with Anderson and Braden Brauer when they raced for fourth. Another caution slowed things down, but on the restart Doughty stormed to second.

Richards led the rest of the way for the big paycheck. Doughty ended up second with Vogel in third. Anderson ended up in fourth and Schwebach’s fine run got him to fifth.

Joe Chisholm led the National Fleet Graphics USRA B-Mod feature on lap one, but Brandon Hare took over on lap two. Hare would lead while Brandon Maitland moved to second and Kadden Kath was third. Jim Chisholm moved from seventh to third and closed on the leaders. A caution on lap eight set up a restart.

Jim Chisholm slid Hare to take the lead, but Hare drover back by. Chisholm pulled off another slider on lap 10 to take the lead. From there, Chisholm checked out for his sixth win at the speedway and his third in a row. Hare finished second with Brandon Maitland third. Ryan Maitland raced from 12th to fourth and Eric Thill came from 10th to fifth.

Brandon Duellman led the Crenlo WISSOTA Super Stocks while Dan Nissalke got to second. Nissalke took the lead on lap three while Duellman was challenged by Tommy Richards for second. A caution on lap seven slowed the field.

On the start, Neil Eckhart and Jeff Brauer zoomed up to challenge Duellman to second. A spun car on lap 14 slowed the race with a yellow and Brian Fetting’s car erupted in smoke. Nissalke’s car broke on the yellow and that gave the lead back to Duellman.

Fetting stayed on the track despite the heavy smoke and being told to leave the track because of the smoke screen. Brauer raced Eckhart for second as visibility was becoming an issue. Eckhart slipped past Brauer and then got close to Duellman with two to go.

The visibility was still an issue and Duellman who ran the top groove caught the turn two wall on lap 19. Eckhart slipped past and scored his fourth win in a row. Duellman finished second and Dylan Kromschroeder slipped to third after he started 15th. Brauer finished in fourth and Richards finished fifth.

The NAPA Auto Care Centers USRA Modifieds had Cory Crapser and Brandon Davis in row one for their 25-lap feature. Davis took the lead and Dustin Sorensen wheeled past Crapser for second. A yellow on lap three slowed the pace.

Davis took off on the start and opened up the lead. Davis then entered lapped traffic on lap 15. Crapser closed back in on Sorensen when the leaders worked the lapped cars. Jason Cummins moved to fourth. The traffic did not slow Davis and he opened up a big lead.

Cummins made his moves in the traffic and got by Sorensen and then Crapser for second. Davis was long gone but a yellow on lap 22 would bring the field back to the leader. Another caution on the start slowed the race again.

This did not deter Davis however as he got to the checkered flag first for his second win of the year and 53rd of his career at Deer Creek. Cummins finished second with Sorensen in third. Crapser finished fourth and Joel Alberts came from 10th to finish fifth.

The Kingsland Knight’s reign of four bus race wins in a row was halted in 2018 by Blooming Prairie. However this year Mike Hyland who drove the Kingsland bus got it to victory lane once again. It was the same bus that rolled over last year.
