Tracy Hines Enters Indiana Midget Week as USAC Midget Point Leader

NEW CASTLE, Ind.—June 9, 2015— Indiana Midget Week for the Honda USAC National Midget Series will play a vital role in determining the 2015 series champion. Roughly one-third of this year’s schedule will be contested during the five-day stretch in the Hoosier State. Tracy Hines, a two-time champion of Indiana Midget week (2008 and 2010), enters the five-race mini-series as the series point leader as he chases his first Honda USAC National Midget Series title aboard the Parker Machinery/Powered by Toyota Spike.

The 2015 edition of Indiana Midget Week for the Honda USAC National Midget Series kicks off on Wednesday, June 10 at Gas City I-69 Speedway. The series then heads to Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville on Thursday, June 11, followed by a stop at Bloomington Speedway on Friday, June 12. Lawrenceburg Speedway awaits on Saturday, June 13, with the five-race mini-series concluding on Sunday, June 14 at Kokomo Speedway.

“Indiana Midget Week has definitely grown and is just about on par with Sprint Week now,” said Hines. “We haven’t had too good of luck with the weather this year for the midgets, so we are hoping to get all five races in. We are in a good position starting the week and have been close at the first two races this year, so hopefully some of the fine-tuning we’ve done will get us that one or two more spots we are looking for.”

Last year during Indiana Midget Week, Hines earned three second-place finishes in four races. He was second at Lincoln Park Speedway, Lawrenceburg Speedway and Kokomo Speedway. Hines ran 10th at Bloomington Speedway in the second race of the 2014 edition of Indiana Midget Week.

This season with the Honda USAC National Midget Series, Hines finished second at Kokomo Speedway during the Kokomo Grand Prix and was third at Plymouth Speedway during the Midget Maynia event. He was the fastest in time trials at Plymouth.

While he will be making his first start of 2015 at Lincoln Park Speedway, Hines has raced at Gas City, Bloomington and Lawrenceburg with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series. He ran fourth at Bloomington with the sprint car and was eighth at both Gas City and Lawrenceburg.

Hines recently wrapped up the 2015 Eastern Storm Tour for the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series. The first two races were rained out at Grandview Speedway and Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania. Hines finished third at New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey and earned another top-five, with a fourth-place showing at Port Royal Speedway in Pennsylvania. He wrapped up the Eastern Storm Tour with a 14th-place finish at Susquehanna Speedway Park in Pennsylvania. The pair of top-five finishes to begin the trip moved Hines into sixth in the series standings.

“We were pretty good in the first two races out east,” said Hines. “We were close at New Egypt and Port Royal and if we can keep plugging away and running in the top-five or top-three, we’ll get a couple of wins. The sprint car series is so tough right now that you have to be spot-on and be in the right spot at the right time to capitalize.”

Along with contesting the full Honda USAC National Midget Series schedule in 2015, Hines is also racing the complete schedule for the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series and Traxxas USAC Silver Crown Series.
