The cool evening was jump started by the Sportsmans division’s feature, which had 7 drivers take the green flag. Early in the race, Leon Sneller and Bryant Klaassen battled side-by-side for the top spot, but multi-time feature winner this season, Andy Wieczorek, was charging. Wieczorek grabbed the lead from Sneller after a few laps, and Weiczorek drove away from the field, picking up his third victory of the year. It was “hobby stock madness” in the USRA Hobby Stock feature. 19 cars started but only 11 finished after a huge wreck about halfway through the event. Tim Waltner led the race early from the fourth starting position, but on a restart, contact with another car sent Waltner spinning in front of the entire field, creating a massive wreck. Coming out of the wreck was a gift, as it sent 8 of the racecars to the infield for the night. Dylan Fitzpatrick would inherit the lead for the restart and Alex Wiertzma, from the 16th starting spot, would pressure Fitzpatrick the remaining laps, but it was to no avail, as Fitzpatrick held on to win his second feature of the season at Rapid Speedway. Colter Deutsch, fresh off a win from one week ago, was hungry for another as the USRA B-Mod feature was kicked-off. Deutsch quickly weaved through the field from his 9th starting spot to grab the lead after a couple laps from Trevor Tesch. Lyndon Johnson would work his way to second throughout the race after starting 12th, but it seems nobody could keep up with Colter Deutsch on Friday evening. Deutsch would go on to lead the remaining laps, through many restarts, to claim his 3rd victory of the season. 17 USRA Stock Cars took the green flag to cap off the night at Rapid Speedway. Darwin Klaassen jumped to the lead early but the second caution of the night waved after Marlin Kracht cut a tire down, causing Roger Verdoorn to spin and gets broadsided by Eric Gaul, ending both of their nights. On the restart Elijah Zevenbergen went where nobody else was running, the bottom. Zevenbergen drove under Klaassen for the lead after methodically working his way from his 12th starting position. Zevenbergen left the rest of the field in the dust after taking the lead, taking home his 6th trophy of the season at Rapid Speedway, followed by Regnerus and Gregoire, respectively. Next Friday, August 12, we will have the Stock Car Special, you won’t want to miss the drivers battle it for the extra money!
