Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (April 12, 2017) – Jack Dover overcame a fuel problem to score a top-five result during his season-opening doubleheader last weekend at I-80 Speedway.

Dover faced tough luck throughout the first night of the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints Bug Eater Bash on Friday. He moved forward in both a heat race and B Main, but was unable to finish either race because of the fuel problem.

“We fought bad fuel the whole night,” he said. “It was plugging the nozzles. Once it fills the nozzles with all that junk you can burn a piston. We were up to second in the B Main in the closing laps, but it started acting up and I didn’t want to hurt an engine so I ended the night early.”

The team cleaned the fuel system prior to Saturday’s show.

“We put two fuel filters on instead of one and it ended up working,” he said. “We got up to third right away in the heat race. The top two guys were checked out so we rode around in third.”

Dover charged from eighth to third place in a heat race. That gave him the most points out of any driver and locked him into the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 4 to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

“We didn’t have a yellow in the feature and we rode around in fourth the whole race,” he said. “I’ll take a top five any night. It was definitely a good night. As long as we keep the top fives going the wins will come.”

Dover will return to action this Saturday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., where he will drive a 305ci winged sprint car for Chris Roseland during the Ice Breaker Challenge with the IMCA Sprint Series of Nebraska. The duo won five races together last season, including four at Eagle Raceway.

“We’ve got the same car and same motor that we had at 305 nationals last year when we won,” Dover said. “I’m feeling pretty good about that. I’m looking forward to racing at Eagle this weekend and seeing all of our fans out there.”
