Victoria Day Weekend Doubleheader Next at Merrittville
THOROLD, ONTARIO (May 13, 2024) … The first doubleheader of the season will be coming up at the Merrittville Speedway over Victoria Day Weekend with racing on both Saturday, May 18, and Monday, May 20.
The May 18th racing program is presented by Auto FX and will highlight the annual visit by NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader and the UMP/Canadian Modifieds, plus the Commercial Auto Electric 358 Modifieds, Semenuk’s ESSO/Baron Roofing DIRTcar Sportsman, RONA/Doidge Building Centre Mod Lites, and the Vansickle Pet Valu/PV on the Lane 4 Cylinders. Saturday night will feature the annual Big Bike Giveaway. Kids aged 3-15 will be given a ballot with the possibility of winning a brand-new bike! New striders and bicycles are donated by race teams, sponsors, track personnel, and businesses within the local community! With the Hoosier Stocks having the night off, Hoosier Stock drivers and one guest will receive free grandstand admission.

On Victoria Day Monday, Merrittville Speedway will be back in action as RCR Performance Golf Cart Sales and Service presents the 10th running of the Brian Stevens Memorial. The 358 Modifieds will be highlighted with the 44-lap Brian Stevens Memorial, plus the Pole Dash. Also on the card will be the annual visit by the Vanderlaan Building Products NLMA Late Models, Hoosier Stocks, Mod Lites, and 4 Cylinders. The night will also celebrate Victoria Day, with Fireworks in the sky. Bobcat of Hamilton has increased the purse by an additional $2500.00.
Brian Stevens was a long-time modified racer and champion at Merrittville, Humberstone and Ransomville. His career spanned from the mid 1970's right up until 2010 and he scored nearly 150 feature wins. Brian passed away in February 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
