Lightning Strikes

Lincoln Park Speedway had eighteen MMSA Lightning Sprints on tap for a midweek event. Two cars fielded by the Dorsett team would prove most dominant by winning both heat races. One by the current point leader Rod Henning and the other Rico Abreu. Both piloting HENCHCRAFT’s and earning up front starting positions for the feature event. Henning shot forward while Rico, from the 5th starting position, would be awaiting the later stages on the race to make his move. With a couple of laps left Rico would take to the point from Henning and win the main event.

Brendan Mullen picked up his first career Buffalo River Race Park win in the Lightning Sprint division. The young driver from Grand Forks, N.D. started on the pole and held off numerous seasoned drivers to earn his first trophy there in his HENCHCRAFT.

Alex Bell of Cambridge, N.Y., made a triumphant return to his home track with the visiting POWRi Outlaw Midget Series. A former Sportsman Modified winner on both dirt and asphalt at Devil’s Bowl, Bell survived a carnage-filled race for the wingless Midget cars. Multiple incidents left several cars damaged and the race was trimmed from 20 laps to 15, but Bell didn’t need the help as he had a fast HENCHCRAFT car and won going away.

14 year old Austin Powell “Parked It” for his first feature win Saturday night at 35 Raceway Park in Frankfort, OH. Austin’s GSXR powered #17P HENCHCRAFT tuned by father Gary was the magic combination to earn them their victory.
