Wilson Captures Third-Place Result During Jack Hewitt Classic and Bob Hampshire Classic

Inside Line Promotions – WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (July 5, 2022) – Greg Wilson garnered a podium last Sunday during the 13th annual Jack Hewitt Classic and the 4th annual Bob Hampshire Classic hosted by Waynesfield Raceway Park.

“That race means a lot to me and a lot to the car owners because it’s basically their home track,” he said. “We were trying pretty hard to win. As bad as we’ve been at Waynesfield, the changes we made were pretty good. To run third was a really good run from 10th. All in all, we were pretty pleased.”

The Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics backed Seeling Motorsports competitor hustled from seventh to fourth place in a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the fifth row for the main event.

“We’ve really struggled at Waynesfield over the last year and a half,” he said. “We were okay qualifying. We were seventh in our group, but like 10th overall so we had a loaded heat race. We got a good start in the heat and got by a car. We were cruising and then a guy blew a tire. That moved us up a spot and then on the restart I got one more. Every spot you gained in the heat race was a couple of rows in the feature.

“We had a real good initial start to get by two or three cars in the feature. We were picking them off and ran around fifth about half the race. We moved forward at the end to finish third. I felt like we really gained on our car.”

Wilson rallied for a third-place finish, which is his fifth podium performance of the season.

The team returns to action this Wednesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., during the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions before joining the series on Friday at Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, N.Y., and Saturday at Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y.

“Lernerville’s race is a big payday,” Wilson said. “I think there will be a lot of cars. The first goal is to get in the show. I feel if we get in we’ll be as good as anybody. We’ve ran strong at Lernerville. We’ve had some okay runs at Ransomville and I’m really excited to get back to Stateline, which has turned into one of my favorite tracks. It’s a neat track that always seems to put on a good show.”
