Burke Returns to Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Competition This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – ALVIN, Texas (Aug. 24, 2021) – Trey Burke is amped to return to action this weekend for the first time since July 4.

Burke and the Joe Dooling Autosports team invade New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J., this Friday through Sunday with the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. The 2.14-mile course hosts Rounds 14 through 16 of the 18-race season.

“We did do a test session at the track two or two and a half weeks ago,” Burke said. “It went really well. There were a few other teams there. I have been to the track last year at the Lucas Oil school so luckily I don’t have to learn a new configuration.

“I had mixed results there. I got in a pretty bad wreck and it literally tore the car in half. But in the other race we went from 12th to third with us, first and second within a tenth of a second at the finish line.”

While Burke has laps on the track, this type of race car differs from when he competed at the 12-turn road course last year.

“I’ve talked to some of the guys about how this track races and they say it’s similar to Mid-Ohio in terms of downforce and aero wash,” he said. “This place is so fast with no heavy breaking zones. Qualifying has to be good. If you look at the top five (at Mid-Ohio) they virtually didn’t change between all three races. If we can do well in qualifying I think that’ll set us up for a good weekend.”
