Dylan Thornton triumphs in Rallen Zeitner Memorial at Shelby County
Looking to avenge a late-race heartbreak in 2024, Dylan Thornton returned to Shelby County Speedway this past weekend for the third annual Rallen Zeitner Memorial—and this time, he finished the job.
With 41 Super Late Models on hand for the event—co-sanctioned by the Malvern Bank East and West Series—Thornton made a statement early, charging from fifth to first in his heat race to lock into the main event. In the 40-lap feature, he powered to the lead on lap five, overtaking the current East Series point leader Chad Simpson and drove to his 11th win of the season and fifth series triumph.
Thornton’s $10,076 victory purse—his richest to date—was boosted to over $13,000 after earning an additional $2,736 in lap money.
