Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (July 2, 2019) – Brian Brown bookended the 41st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals with strong performances last weekend.

Brown posted a top five during the opening round and a sixth-place run during the finale of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series tripleheader at Jackson Motorplex.

June 27 – Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn. – Qualifying: 2; Heat race: 2 (1); Dash: 3 (6); Feature: 5 (3).

“We were really, really good,” Brown said. “We qualified well and ran well in the heat and dash. We weren’t as good as the leaders in the main event. I thought we were a third through fifth-place car and we ran fifth. In those events it’s important to make sure you’re staying in contention and we did that by having a good points night.”

June 28 – Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn. – Qualifying: 13; Heat race: 6 (7); B Main: 7 (5).

“Friday was the polar opposite,” Brown said. “I was the weak link in the chain on the team. I didn’t make a good qualifying lap and got us behind. We were fighting a couple of other small issues that hurt us, too. We barely missed it through the heat and missed it in the B Main. It shows with the quality of competition if you’re off a bit you’ll be watching the A Main.”

June 29 – Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn. – Heat race: 1 (3); Dash: 6 (8); Feature: 6 (6).

“We knew we had to win the heat,” Brown said. “We made sure our car took off and drove forward good. We were able to get by Shane (Stewart) and Matt (Juhl) to get the lead. That put us in a good spot. We started eighth in the dash and ran sixth. At that point we felt like we were on house money just because as bad as we were Friday we could have been starting 16th or 20th on Saturday. We went for broke. We were up to fourth at one point and rode there in fifth. We didn’t get going on the last restart. Me and Ian (Madsen) got going at it for fifth and it let James (McFadden) by. I was able to get back to sixth.

“You’re not pleased because you didn’t win, but I look at these weekends as, ‘Are we in contention? Can we see the front? Are we as good as the top guys?’ Sometimes if you answer all three questions you still don’t have a result you wanted. When we did our job as a group we were in contention, could see the top guys and had a solid night.

“That is an event now. You have the Knoxville Nationals, the Kings Royal, the Tuscarora 50, the National Open and the Jackson Nationals in my opinion. It’s in that group. That’s how it was when I was a kid. The Jackson Nationals is back.”

UP NEXT – Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., for the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series

“We’ve run well a handful of times, but we’ve been not good more than the good piece,” Brown said. “Me, Chad, Nate and dad are trying to come up with a good package to unload with. We never seem to get qualified and that leads to not the best results. It’s a track we’ve almost won at, but it’s a track we’ve left on the hook, too. It’s a big FVP event so we’re excited to see the FVP customers and employees. It’s important for us to have a good weekend.”
