Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2019) – Brian Brown posted a pair of top-five finishes last weekend to give him 20 top fives this season.

The best result of the weekend was a podium finish on Saturday during the Jim Nace Memorial 37th annual National Open presented by Red Robin at Selinsgrove Speedway. It was Brown’s 14th podium of the season.

Sept. 13 – Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. – Qualifying: 8; Heat race: 2 (2); Feature: 4 (7).

“We hot lapped really well, but we didn’t qualify as well as we would hope,” Brown said. “We went there with a 100 percent different package than we’ve ever had there to see if we could be better. We were better in some senses, but we were worse in qualifying. We were pretty good in the heat and in the feature we started seventh. We got a really good start and was up to third or fourth at one point when a yellow came out. They put us back a couple of spots for the restart and we had to work to get back to fourth. I feel like we’re heading in the right direction.”

Sept. 14 – Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa. – Qualifying: 4; Heat race: 1 (3); Feature: 3 (3).

“They had some rain during the day which made the track pretty fast,” Brown said. “We qualified well and were able to win the heat. We knew the pill draw for the feature would be pretty crucial. We drew the No. 3 and that put us on the second row. We fell in line right away. We knew 40 laps at that kind of speed, you can’t run 40 laps wide open. We had to bide our time and see where we were at during the mid-race break. Unfortunately, we were too free. Even sometimes when you’re trying to maintain your tires you can be wearing them because of the way your car is handling. Our tires were pretty blistered. We took back off and rode there. When we got to traffic it felt like we could have an opportunity, but that was only with a few laps to go. I took a couple of shots at Freddie (Rahmer), but couldn’t clear him and we ended third.

“It was a solid weekend. We’ve been out here quite a bit and have been in the top five a majority of the nights. When you get seconds, thirds and fourths the wins will come.”

UP NEXT – Thursday at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Pa.; Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa.; and Sunday at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Md., with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions

“BAPS Motor Speedway is a place we’ve had some success as well as Williams Grove,” Brown said. “Lincoln is a wild card. We’ve been decent there and have a couple of top 10s. Hagerstown is a place I’m looking forward to that should be in our wheelhouse. If we can come away with four top fives it’d be a successful weekend.”
