Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2019) – Brian Brown led a quarter of the Champion Racing Oil National Open finale last Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway before finishing seventh for the second straight night.

He finished the season with a top-10 result during all six appearances at the famed half-mile oval.

Oct. 4 – Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. – Qualifying: 3; Heat race: 1 (1); Dash: 3 (3); Feature: 7 (5).

“We qualified well both nights and put ourselves in a good spot,” Brown said. “We won the heat and were good in the dash. We got to second at one time and finished third. We were really good in the beginning of the feature and got to fourth. We were right there with the top three. They had a double-file restart and I didn’t get going like I wanted to. We weren’t good the last 10-to-12 laps and were just holding on.”

Oct. 5 – Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. – Qualifying: 6; Heat race: 2 (2); Dash: 1 (1); Feature: 7 (1).

“Saturday night was a little like a duplicate of Friday,” Brown said. “We qualified well and made the dash through the heat. We got lucky with the one pill in the dash draw and we won the dash. I think maybe I gave some bad information to Chad after the dash. We made some adjustments we shouldn’t have. We were pretty good in open air. Once Brent (Marks) got by us our car really changed in dirty air and got really tight. I couldn’t carry speed through the corner.

“You never want to go backwards, but we’ll make some good notes and go back there next year hoping to put ourselves in a good opportunity again. If you start 14th and run seventh you have a different mindset than starting up front and running seventh. It was a good run, but in the next breath it’s like, ‘Gosh, what could have been.’ I felt like we were pretty good. I’m proud of Chad, dad and Nate. They did a great job the last six weeks in Pennsylvania. I think we had only two finishes outside of the top 10 in 15 races.”

UP NEXT – Saturday at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Ind., for the Wabash Clash with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series

“We went there last year and broke the track record in qualifying,” Brown said. “If I remember right we finished seventh in the feature. We were pretty good so I’m looking forward to getting back there. Hopefully we can qualify well and that will set us up for the rest of the night.”
