MACON, Ill. – In another impressive weekend, Frank Galusha earned his first POWRi Outlaw Micro Series victory, then wasted no time in collecting his second just 24 hours later. The Lincoln, Neb. racer swept the pair of events at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway and Macon (Ill.) Speedway, stretching his win streak to four consecutive races.

Traveling east from Nebraska to Illinois on Friday morning, Galusha arrived at the popular quarter-mile Jacksonville to compete against 26 others in the micro sprint division. From fourth in his heat race, Galusha navigated his new Stallard SST Chassis to the front to reach the checkered first.

The heat race run was good for second in passing points, putting Galusha starting outside the front row. At the drop of the green, the Eagle Motorsports No. 12 took control of the top spot, and would never relinquish it. Fending off Alec Long early and Nathan Benson later on, Galusha led all 20 laps to earn the winner’s check.

Saturday’s event at Macon would be slightly tougher for Galusha. 33 micro entries entered the pit area at the fifth-mile oval. Starting further back in his heat race this time, in sixth, Galusha still managed to power forward to the second spot, which would again put him second in passing points on the night.

From the outside front row again, Galusha wouldn’t be as lucky, as polesitter Nick Howard took the point early. Luke Verardi and Matt Howard ran close behind for the first few laps, but Galusha soon moved his Speedway Motors-backed ride to the high side of the speedway, mounting a charge to run down Nick Howard. Two cautions before the halfway point wouldn’t provide any relief, as Howard was able to stretch his lead again on the restart each time. It wasn’t until lap 14 that Galusha would be able to use slower traffic to make his way by and into the lead. From that point, Galusha quickly pulled away and cruised to victory.

“I don’t normally get to race against this kind of competition on a weekly basis so to come out here and do this, it just proves to myself that we’ve got what it takes to compete with the best,” Galusha noted, and then dedicated his efforts over the weekend to his five-year old niece Kenzie and her battle against cancer. “They mean the world to me and I love them very much,” he said of his family.
