Inside Line Promotions – WHEATLAND, Mo. (Sept. 26, 2018) – Jack Dover highlighted the 8th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial with a top-10 finish last Friday at Lucas Oil Speedway, where he drove a sprint car owned by Chris Bowers during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event.

Dover won a race each night, beginning on Thursday with a heat race triumph. However, an eighth-place finish in a qualifier relegated him to a B Main. He advanced from fourth to second place to transfer into the back of the main event, but the fuel cap broke during the first few laps of the race and Dover exited the race early with a 21st-place finish.

His best night came on Friday when Dover advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race and he won a qualifier after starting second. That ranked Dover fourth out of more than 50 competitors and lined him up on the outside of the second row for the A Main.

“We were pretty good in the heat and qualifier, but we missed the setup and just didn’t have the car tight enough in the feature,” he said. “We tried to hold on to what we could.”

Dover salvaged a 10th-place result, which was his 30th top 10 of the season.

The event concluded on Saturday with Dover winning a last chance qualifier to lock into the main event.

“About four laps in I went into turns three and four,” he said. “I entered the corner wrong, hit the cushion and just about flipped it. Trying to save it I fell back to last and we worked our way back to 14th.

“We didn’t get our top 10s like we wanted. We missed the setup most of the time. We didn’t keep up with the track as we should have. We were still happy and had a fun weekend though. With 50-some cars there we were always in the feature so that’s an accomplishment.”

Dover will do double duty this Saturday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., during the Midwest Fall Brawl. He will drive for Bowers during the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints portion of the program and will pilot his car in the 305ci winged sprint car division.

“We’ve had a lot of success at I-80 Speedway,” Dover said. “I’m looking for a couple of wins. We haven’t won at I-80 this year so we need to get it done on Saturday.”
