Sweigart Becomes 3-Time RaceSaver Challenge Winner, Snook Gets First Career Port Royal Speedway Win Worth $6K, Jackson Wins Wingless Sportsman
Port Royal, PA -- With Central PA Speedweek rolling elsewhere with 410 sprint cars, Port Royal Speedway honored their "Blue Collar" racers on June 29th with the 14th Annual Blue Collar Classic. A night featuring the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge for the Penns Valley Meat Market 305 sprint cars, the Ron Zimmerman Tribute Race for the Zimmerman Truck Repair limited late models, and the wingless sportsmen. It saw all 3 divisions drivers pick up meaningful wins with Nick Sweigart winning his third RaceSaver Challenge, Snook winning his first Port Royal Speedway feature worth $6,000, and Tony Jackson winning in what should be his final race at The Speed Palace.
In 305 competition, Nick Sweigart and Christian Rumsey would start on the front row and put on a show in the closing laps of the A-main event.
Sweigart would take the lead on the opening lap and would seemingly lead comfortably until Rumsey would run him down in lapped traffic with 4 laps to go.
Going through the third and fourth corner, Rumsey would use a charge on the low side of the race track to pull in front of Sweigart for the race lead in the waning laps of the race.
The two would battle around the race track nearly side by side when Sweigart would charge back by Rumsey on the outside of turn 4 to take the lead back with 2 laps remaining.
They stay locked side by side over the next half lap when entering turn 3, Rumsey seemed to lose some grip on the top side of the race track, giving Sweigart enough space to hold on to win his 3rd career RaceSaver Challenge, making him the only driver to hold 3 titles in the race's history.
Rumsey would hold on to finish in second and Dustin Young would round out the podium.
In the PA Sprint Series Founder's Cup, Jarrett Cavalet would start on the pole and lead all 15 laps to secure himself a starting spot in the 2026 Keystone RaceSaver Challenge.
For the Zimmerman Truck Repair limited late models, Lane Snook would start on the pole and following a number of restarts, lead all 25 laps for the $6,000 Ron Zimmerman Tribute Race title.
The race would mark Snook's first career win at the Port Royal Speedway oval adding to the list of tracks Snook has been able to conquer already in his young career. The win also allows Snook to join the ranks of many of his family members in the Port Royal Speedway winner's history books including his father Todd Snook, brother Trent Brenneman, cousin Devin Hart, and his grandfather Butch Renninger.
Ryan Zook would finish in second and DJ Myers would finish in third.
In wingless sportsman competition, Tony Jackson would come from his third starting position to get around Cliff Brian Jr. and Billy Brian Jr. for the win.
Jackson mentioned in victory lane that the win had a lot of meaning for him as the division does not have any more scheduled races at the race track, and he plans on 2025 being his last season in racing behind the steering wheel.
Jackson would get by Billy Brian Jr. on the backstretch of the race track with 8 laps remaining and not be stopped on his trek to victory lane.
Billy Brian Jr. would unfortunately see his engine go up in smoke ending his night a few laps later.
Cliff Brian Jr. would go on to finish in the second position and Brett Perigo would finish in the third spot.
Port Royal Speedway will be back in action Wednesday July 2nd as a part of Central Pennsylvania Speedweek with Weikert's Livestock 410 sprint cars racing for $10,000 to win and United Racing Club 360 sprint cars competing for $2,000.
