MWRA Heats Up With 2 Shows This Weekend!

This Friday, July 28th, at ECS Speedway in Butler, Missouri, and this Saturday, July 29th, just down the road at Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Mo, the stars and cars of the Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA Sprint Cars will be running with two showdowns as we reach the halfway point of the season “On the Road To A Championship” for 2023.

This is the second time for the Midwest Wingless series to run at Electric City Speedway, after previously starting the season at ECS on April 21st with Lone Jack (Mo) chauffeur Braydon Cromwell taking his first victory with the MWRA on that night.

Since then this USAC series has raced seven more times at venues in Missouri and Kansas, with 5 different drivers parking it in victory lane this season from three different states, including Topeka (KS) Wyatt Burks (3), Battlefield (Mo) Kory Schudy (2), Spring Hill (KS) Chad Goff (1), and Owasso, Oklahoma, racer Ty Hulsey picking up his first victory with the series at 81 Speedway.
Nevada Speedway has been on the schedule since the 2021 season when the opener was ran there with Cody Baker taking the victory driving for his grandfather Ted Hall racing the THR 9H. While last season Wesley Smith of Nixa, Missouri, took the win driving for John Helm.

This time around Smith will look for his first victory of the season with the MWRA after (4) third place finishes with the series in 2023 driving both his Wesley Smith Racing 44, and the Lewis Racing 2. On Friday night at ECS Smith will drive the Helm 12 for the first time this year, and then return to his Carquest Auto Parts Sponsored machine for Saturdays race at Nevada.

Heading into race number nine of eighteen for the 2023 campaign ending with the first place driver getting 10,000 from Wholesale Batteries Inc, Burks continues to lead the point standings in his Wyatt Burks Racing 11w. With Brad Wyatt of Kearney, (Mo), moving up to second in points running his Valor Racing 41, while Gladstone, (Mo) teammates Chris Parkinson and Chad Winfrey driving the Chris Parkinson Racing sprint cars have moved up to third and fourth place respectively in the point standings, followed by Cromwell in fifth.

Friday at ECS Speedway the grandstands will open at 5:00. With Hot Laps at 7:30, and racing to follow. On Saturday at Nevada Speedway, grandstands will open at 4:30, with hot laps at 7, and racing to follow. Racing photo by Ken Simon, in conjunction with John Lee High Fly’N photos.
