McDougal, Flud and Laplante Kick Off Driven Midwest Cup With Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Victories at Caney Valley Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – CANEY, Kan. (Oct. 20, 2017) – Jason McDougal, Frank Flud and Ryder Laplante emerged victorious on Friday night during the opening round of the Driven Midwest Cup at Caney Valley Speedway.

Both McDougal and Flud charged from the fourth row to score wins while Laplante capitalized on the pole position during Night 1 of the Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Micro Series presented by MyRacePass tripleheader.

McDougal started seventh and outdueled Flud to claim the Stock Non-Wing main event. It was McDougal’s first career division win. Flud, who leads the class with seven triumphs this season, increased his lead in the championship standings to 81 points with only two races remaining.

Kinzer Edwards rounded out the podium after starting 12th. Hank Davis placed fourth and Cody Price ended fifth.

Flud and Price were the heat race winners.

Flud was dominant in the Winged ‘A’ Class main event as he powered from eighth to record his eighth victory of the season in the division. It also increased his points lead to 85 points. McDougal, who started seventh, finished in the runner-up position with Kris Carroll third, Davis fourth and Riley Goodno fifth.

Davis and Flud both picked up a heat race triumph.

Laplante closed the gap on Restricted ‘A’ Class points leader Daison Pursley in the championship standings following his division-leading seventh win of the season. Pursley, who finished second, holds a 49-point advantage.

Kale Drake placed third with Ryan Timms fourth and Dylan Pendergrass fifth.

Laplante and Pursley each won a heat race.

Round 2 of the Driven Midwest Cup is on Saturday, which is Pink Out Night for breast cancer awareness. Racing has been moved up to begin at 4 p.m. The gates will open at 1 p.m.

Event tickets are $10 for adults on Saturday. Children ages 12-years-old and younger get in free.
