2nd Win at Hartford

by Steve Zwemke (HARTFORD, S.D.) -- Sioux Falls Sprint Car driver Eric Lutz has been a picture of consistency at I-90 Speedway this season. Had he not missed opening night, he would be a serious threat to Troy Schreurs lead in the Coffee Cup Fuel Stops 360 Sprint Car class. Lutz came from sixth to win Saturday night's feature - his second of the season. Kevin Flowers led the opening 13 laps until his car got loose in turn four. Flowers' car had already started to get sideways when Lutz hit him from behind. It was the second time that Lutz had caught up to Flowers during the race. With the caution sending Flowers to the rear, Lutz outlasted Schreurs to the finish. "This is the best track he had all year," Lutz said of promoter Lyle Howey III who also does track prep. Always gracious in victory lane, Lutz praised Howey for his efforts throughout the season and Schreurs for being a top competitor. "He's already one of the top drivers out here," Lutz added. In nine starts, Lutz has two wins, three second place finishes and two thirds. His win also allowed him to move into third in the point standings.
