Under the Helmet with Gary Gould

Starting in a Go-Kart at the very young age of 4, Gary Gould of Stewart, Ohio, enjoyed the speeds and racing on his own track. At the age of 12, Gary knew he was ready for the competitive leagues and then he began started racing karts in throughout the local Ohio go-kart tracks. He finished 2nd in his first ever competitive go-kart race and went on that year to winning his first race after 5 contests and then he won 8 out of the 16 races he was in.

Gary raced karts competitively for 8 years, winning an amazing 114 feature events in which 95% of the time he finished inside the top ten; an incredible 297 times out of 314 races. Gary conquered 8 Championship Titles across the state of Ohio.

Just a few years ago, in 2008, Gary decided to move a step forward in his racing career, moving into the Pure Stockcar Division. It was a big change for the Stewart, Ohio, driver as learning the set-ups and driving style needed to get around the track. His first year he had a second place finish and capped off the season just outside the top five in championship points at 6th.

Early in the 2010 season, Gary got to experience something no driver wants to feel. Gary flipped his stock car on the 18th of June and even though he was fine, the car was not. Shortly thereafter, his neighbor gave him a call and asked him to drive his car to make an attempt at the points championship. The first race back after flipping the car, Gary took the checkered in the top spot. Gary gave it his best, winning a race or two, and made it inside the top five of the championship points at fourth.

This past season, Gould Motorsports decided to go forward into the Modified division. The team found a 7-year old chassis which was a bit older than they had wanted, but Gary knew the modified division was his next step and he figured this would be a great economical start into the class. Gary made the main event against some of the best modified drivers in Ohio throughout his first contest and the team knew that this was the right decision. The 2011 season brought some success for Gould Motorsports, and the team just awaits the season of 2012. Many things were learned throughout this past year, and Gary will be taking the momentum from this past season into a very anticipated 2012 race season.
