Inside Line Promotions – NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (July 8, 2016) – Logan Schuchart captured his first career National Sprint League and World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series feature victory on Friday night during the FVP Outlaws at Cedar Lake event at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Schuchart was a popular winner as he received high fives and congratulations from a variety of his fellow competitors, series officials and crew members from many teams following the thrilling triumph, which came with one final test as a caution with nine laps remaining set up a double-file restart for Schuchart alongside defending World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz.

“Any time you have Donny starting next to you at the end of the race it’ll make you nervous,” Schuchart said. “I tried not to let the butterflies get to me. As long as I got to the lead and got in my line he’d have a hard time passing me.”

That held true as Schuchart powered into the lead on the final restart and pulled away to win by almost a second and a half.

“I’m happy for Logan,” Schatz said after finishing second. “Logan’s been knocking on the door of getting a win for a while.”

Third-place finisher Joey Saldana took advantage of the only other restart of the race as he took the lead from Schuchart following a caution on Lap 7. Saldana led for nine laps before Schuchart reclaimed the top spot entering turn three on the bottom groove in traffic.

The duo raced in close quarters through traffic for a couple of laps before Schuchart began to pull away. He led by nearly two seconds when Schatz passed Saldana for the runner-up position with a dozen laps remaining.

Schatz closed the cap to within half a second when the caution came out on Lap 27 for Kerry Madsen, who stopped in turn four while running ninth.

Schuchart was flawless on the restart and the rest will go down in the history books.

“Winning your first one means so much,” Saldana said. “He’ll win many more.”

Shane Stewart finished fourth with Rico Abreu rounding out the top five.

Craig Dollansky used a late-race pass to score a sixth-place result and regain the National Sprint League points lead by 20 points over Danny Lasoski, who ended 14th.

Abreu opened the event by setting quick time during qualifying before he won a heat race, along with Daryn Pittman, Schatz and Saldana. Davey Heskin was victorious during the B Main.

The National Sprint League will return to action July 22 at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., and July 23 at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
