Harrison Claims Motorplex Opener!
After the disappointment of a rainout a fortnight ago, the Junior Sedans returned with great numbers to the Perth Motorplex tonight, running as part of the Junior Speedway Racing Association - JSRA Series, with Kaden Harrison ultimately racing away the winner.
Harrison won both of the Top Star heats to put himself on the front row of the feature race alongside Jesse James Samuels, while in the New Stars Maddison Ambrose also won both heats to start from pole alongside newcomer Jack Foster, with the New Stars lining up behind the Top Stars for the twelve lap main event.
Harrison was quickly into the lead as the race went green initially but unfortunately the yellows were out before a lap was complete as Tia Amato found herself facing the wrong way in turn four.
The second attempt saw Samuels running right alongside Harrison, able to get the nose in front to complete lap one, the order swapping the next time by.
Further back Maddison Ambrose was leading the New Stars pack, but the yellows came out with two complete as Adelayde Humphrys spun coming out of turn two to bunch the field back up.
Harrison and Samuels would resume their battle on the restart, and with cars spread out all across the track it was anyone’s game, including a three car battle between Koby Rickerby, Mackenzie Silver and Wyatt Van Der Mey for third.
The New Stars were fighting it out just as hard, Ambrose holding on to her lead but only just as Bella Crowe tried to make her presence felt.
Further back Indianna Walker had a moment coming out of turn two and Cooper Sayer launched over the rear of the car, getting all four wheels off the ground before landing and somehow continuing before ultimately retiring infield.
Back up front though it was all Harrison, going on to defeat Samuels and Koby Rickerby in an exciting main event, while Crowe was able to get the best of Ambrose to claim the New Stars win, with Foster third.
