Curtain Call
Ray Parent and the Amtrol Racing Team head to Thompson International Speedway this weekend as they close out their 2013 calendar with the annual World Series of Racing.
Parent will be back behind the wheel of his familiar 17RI machine at the high banked Connecticut oval; after competing in the #5 Gifford Motorsports Carquest sponsored car at Seekonk Speedway’s D.A.V. Memorial event two-weeks ago. Parent rallied from an ill handling machine to come home with a sixth place overall finish.
“We struggled some with the setup,” said Parent. “That was a brand new car for them; but we fought through-it and came home with a solid finish. With the luck I've have had, I’ll take a sixth place finish in anything.”
The Tiverton, RI driver heads into this weekend’s event looking for nothing but a victory. “I’m excited to head to Thompson (Speedway),” said Parent. “We’ve been trying to get there all summer; but the weather would never cooperate with our schedule. I really expect us to content for a win there. We have been good on the large tracks this year and have run well there in the past.”
Parent looks at their season ending race as an opportunity for everyone in his racing program to come together and enjoy what the sport of racing is all about.
“This will be a really fun weekend,” said Parent. “My family, my crew almost all my sponsors will be there for the whole weekend; its great way to end this year on a positive note. We’re looking forward to going out with a win.”
