Change Up: Devils Bowl Postponed, On to Airborne

Ray Parent and the Amtrol Race Team were geared up for a return trip to Devils Bowl Speedway as the third round of the American Canadian Tour was scheduled with the Spring Green 114 this coming Sunday. Poor weather forecasts along with saturated racing grounds have forced a postponement of the event.

With a to-be-determined make-up date Parent will now focus his efforts Airborne International Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY when Tour arrives on May 17th. The 100-lap event at the upstate New York oval will be the 250th American Canadian Tour event run for the series.

Parent who is fresh off a 14th place salvaged finish in the Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road Speedbowl is looking forward rebounding at a track he enjoys.

"Airborne and Devils Bowl are both great tracks for us”, stated Parent. We had a rough day at Thunder Road [Speedbowl], getting caught up in someone else’s mess that nothing to do with us. Getting back to some tracks that we have top-five’s at is a good way to turn this luck around.”

Parent battled from his 25th starting position into the top-10 halfway through the event. As an accident ahead of him caught the right side body panels and tore the fender and door off the 17RI Amtrol Ford Fusion machine.

“It was just sheet-metal”, stated Parent. “it didn't get any of the suspension. We fought back to get decent finish considering… We had kept our nose clean all day, its shame for these guys on the Team to have it end like that. We had 6-7th place car today and just had no luck qualifying; it got us behind early. I’m proud of the Team for working hard."

On a day where the passing was at a premium even with 14th place finish Parent finds himself fifth in series points after two events and is looking forward to tracks that he feels suit him and Teams program.

“I’m happy Thunder Road [Speedbowl] is behind us”, stated Parent. We have never run well there. So be in the top-10 when that wreck happened shows how far we have come as a Team. That’s a big plus and something we will take to these tracks I know we can win at.”
