A "Ray" of Son-shine!
The 2015 racing season gets a much needed early start and welcomed Ray of sunshine, pun intended… as Ray Parent and the Amtrol Racing Team along with the American Canadian Tour head to the warmth of the Florida Coast at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach. The Tiverton, RI driver will join 28 other Teams from New England and Northeastern Canada in their quest for the American Racer Challenge Cup in just a few short days.
Three 100-lap races are planned at the 3/8-mile oval Sunday, Monday and Tuesday February 15-17; with Monday and Tuesdays feature events going towards an overall championship for the $35,000+ in posted awards. The event marks the second appearance for the Vermont based series and the first since 2011.
Parent a rookie with the ACT series in 2011 earned a 16th and 13th place finish in the two races knows that this time things are much different. “That was our first time running with the Tour, we’re not the same Team we were back then.” stated Parent. “We’ve come a long way since then... We're going to compete for a wins, not just show up. I think we’ll be good… We’re excited to get out of all this snow and get to racing even if it’s just for a few days."
The Team is proud to announce they'll take primary sponsor Amtrol to Florida, as the West Warwick, RI based company is on board for the fourth year. Amtrol, founded in 1946 with products in the forefront of water solutions for storage, treatment, heating, expansion and flow control will once again grace the panels of the 17RI machine for the remainder of 2015 racing season.
“We couldn’t be prouder to welcome back Amtrol.” said Parent. “The relationship has been so much fun. With their help we’ve been able to better ourselves each year. Through Dan Davies Sales I work with their products every day, so to know what they represent and to contribute growth for them has been so rewarding and great that it can work both ways… With their help we know 2015 will be our best year yet, we’re glad to have them back.”
In addition to being proud of Amtrol Parent will be just that, a proud father as his two sons continue their own growth in Motorsports during the 2015 season. Sons Raymond Jr. will compete regularly in Legends car competition at Seekonk Speedway and Reagan in the karting ranks. Much like the start of Parent's racing career son Raymond has received help in getting his Legends machine on the track from Uncle Bob Caron.
“It’s a pretty special deal to have Bob and R.L. Caron help with my son.” stated Parent. “It’s been three generations of us now with Bob’s help. That’s a remarkable thing…. We can’t thank him enough for the support.”
