Banks, Oregon- Saturday, July 23rd would be the 98.7 The Bull Open Wheel Frenzy presented by J.A.G. Racing, Premier Community Bank, and Habitat For Humanity at Sunset Speedway Park. In addition to the Wingless Sprint Series in competition so were the Northwest Focus Midgets, Dwarf Cars, and both classes of 600cc Micro Sprint divisions.

The Northwest Focus Midget Series would have their first “Heroes Race” and would be a fifty-lap affair. Graham, Washington’s Nik Larson got out to the early race lead in the main event. Larson would maintain the position until a caution came out. On the following restart Chance Crum, of Snohomish, Washington, would make the pass. Crum blazed the trail the rest of the way to win his third race of the current campaign with the series.

The Dwarf Cars would see a wonderful battle. Tigard’s Shane Youngren and Portland native Ryan Martinez would duke it out in lapped traffic for the coveted top spot. In traffic, the two drivers were joined by a lapped car to make it three wide and it would be Youngren at the point. Youngren would finish the remainder of the race in the position and win for the fifth occasion in 2016.

In the 600cc Open Micros Jon Farrell was the guy to beat. The Sedro-Woolley, Washington chauffeur seized first place early and would run away with it. It would Farrell’s first win of the year at SSP.

Finally, in the 600cc Restricted Micro ranks another familiar face emerged triumphantly. McKenna, Washington youngster Lane Taylor was both smooth and consistent in the main event. It marked the third time that Taylor has bested the field at the “Banks Bullring” this season.

Sunset Speedway Park will next host the 4-Bee Bonanza 60. This will be a 4-Bee race that will be run like normal for thirty laps and then the last thirty laps they will compete going the opposite direction. Other classes on the card include the Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, Pure Stocks, and Dwarf Cars.

Pit Gates on Saturday will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:30. Tickets for this event are Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
