Michael drives smart patient race in Ohio

Michael had a good night in Columbus in the Rankine Racing Atlas Pumping Team Enterprises Ford Focus Midget where he started 5th in the main and finished 3rd. Michael battled for 18 of the 20 laps with Mikell McGee as you could put a blanket over the two cars. After the race Michael said that he had a lot of fun racing Mikell as they both raced each other hard and clean. A late race caution put Michael right behind race winner Sam McGhee and 2nd place finisher Cooper Clouse but Michael could not join the battle for the top spot.

In the heat race Michael led the first 6 laps holding off a hard charging Clouse until they came off of turn 4 side by side. Michael spun the car as he was trying to make sure he gave Cooper enough room in the outside lane. Michael eventually finished 3rd in the heat race.
