Hill Posts Top-10 Finish During Debut at Park Jefferson International Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (April 20, 2021) – Alex Hill’s first visit to Park Jefferson International Speedway resulted in a top-10 finish Saturday night with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“Our night went pretty good,” she said. “It was nice to get a top-10 finish our first time here. The track was a bit difficult for me. It was hard and slick early. I’m still working on getting comfortable with my car on these types of tracks, but it was still a decent night for us overall.”

The Hill’s Racing Team driver drew the third starting spot in her heat race.
“I didn’t get a great start and dropped to fourth,” she said. “I don’t think there was any passing after the start.”

Hill’s heat race result placed her 11th on the starting grid for the night’s main event.

“I had a really good start and moved up several spots, but then someone spun before we made a lap and we had to do a complete restart,” she said. “The next start didn’t go as well for me and I dropped a position. But I was able to move back up to 11th about midway through the race.

“It was difficult to pass and everyone was pretty much running the same line – the bottom in turns one and two and the top in turns three and four. I was able to slip under a car in turns one and two and moved up to 10th and that’s where I finished.”

The 10th-place result marked her first top 10 of the season.

Hill will take this weekend off from competition to attend the World of Outlaws Bristol Throwdown where her Hill’s Racing Team teammate Sam Hafertepe Jr. will compete. Tim Kaeding will fill in for her during races at U.S. 36 Raceway near Osborn, Mo., on Friday and at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday.

“I’ll miss racing this weekend, but it’s nice to have someone like Tim to take your place and earn owner points for your car,” she said.

The next racing scheduled for Hill is April 30 at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and May 1 at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
