Thompson wins Battle at the Beaver
Cody Thompson grabbed his seventh feature triumph of 2025 on Monday night with a $1,000 victory at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta, Iowa.
The Battle at the Beaver event brought 19 IMCA Modifieds to the 3/8-mile track, including Thompson’s Team Harris Auto Racing No. 25c ride. Thompson finished as runner-up in his heat race and began the 20-lap A-Main from 10th position. He steadily moved forward in the race and after a battle with Cole Czarneski, Thompson took the checkered flag first. He won by 2.003 seconds over Czarneski, with Ethan Dotson, Jesse Rogotzke and Tom Berry Jr. completing the top five.
The Monday victory capped a racing slate for Thompson that started on Friday at Denison, Iowa’s Crawford County Speedway, with competition in two classes.
In the Late Model ranks, Thompson piloted the No. 7 machine in a 12-car field at the 3/8-mile speed plant. He was unable to make the call for his heat race, starting him shotgun in the feature. He advanced 10 positions in the 20-lapper and finished as runner-up behind Nick Deal. Zach Zeitner took third, with Kale Koskski fourth and A.J. Jorgensen fifth.
In the IMCA Modified division, Thompson was one of 14 entries in his familiar No. 25c car. He won his heat and rolled off second to start the 20-lap main event. He finished in the fifth spot, rounding out the top five behind Josh Most, Izac Mallicoat, Jesse Dennis and Owen Barnhill.
