Joe Godsey scores Top-10 finish at Fayette County Speedway

On Wednesday afternoon Roth Motorsports returned with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Beaver Dam Raceway (Beaver Dam, Wis.) for the eighth stop of the Hell Tour. After Jeff and Joe both experienced fuel pump issues in hot laps, Roth piloted his secondary car to a sixth-place finish in his heat while Godsey was a scratch. The following night at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) on the quarter-mile oval, Godsey came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth-place finish while Roth finished sixth. Transferring the Top 2 from the B-Main into the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Jeff fell short with a 13th-place outing. After taking a provisional into the show, Joe passed improved five spots to finish 17th.

On Friday evening at Dirt Oval Route 66 Raceway (Joliet, Ill.), Joe locked his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a fifth-place finish in his heat while Jeff finished sixth. Godsey clawed forward one spot in the 30-lapper to lace 13th while Roth pulled off with a six laps remaining.

For another $10,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday at Fayette County Speedway (Brownstown, Ill.), Godsey clocked in seventh fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. Roth fell one spot short with a fifth-place finish, but was granted a provisional into the main event. Joe held his spot for all 50 laps of the feature to finish 10th while Jeff passed seven cars to register a 14th-place finish.

To wrap up the Fourth of July weekend on Sunday at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.), both drivers failed to qualify for the A-Main via their heat races, sending them into the B-Main. Joe elected to scratch with a provisional while Jeff streaked to a 10-lap consolation victory. With $5,000 on the line, Godsey passed 10 cars to finish 12th while Roth jumped up three spots to place 14th.
