Groomer races to fifth-place finish at Terre Haute

Saturday night found Derek Groomer in action at Paragon Speedway (Paragon, Ind.) aboard his Jerry Burton Masonry No. D48 Modified. After taking part in a successful time trial session that saw him claim the fast time honors, Mother Nature rolled in before the start of the heat races and washed out the program.

On Sunday at Terre Haute Action Track (Terre Haute, Ind.), Derek followed up the fourth-fastest time in his group with a fifth-place finish in his heat. Starting the feature in 13th, Groomer gained eight positions to register a fifth-place finish. He trailed Brian Shaw, Will Krup, Tyler Weiss, and Adam Stricker to the checkers.
