Sams III Scores Podium Result During Final Event of the Season

Inside Line Promotions – CLEWISTON, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2020) – Danny Sams III captured his best result of the year last Friday during the opening night of a two-day event at Hendry County Motorsports Park.
The Sams LaMountain Racing driver posted a third-place result before ending the weekend – and his season – with a DNF in Saturday’s A Main.
“I was happy to get a podium, but we had an opportunity to have better results both nights,” Sams III said. “Unfortunately, a couple of racing incidents occurred, but we’re taking the positive out of the weekend.”
Sams III kicked off the action on Friday by charging from seventh to second place in a heat race.
“It was pretty awesome,” he said. “We went out the first night and drove up to second. We were battling for the lead by the end of the race. Then in the feature we started on the pole and someone got into the back of me several times. I led the first few laps before contact dropped me to third. I ran there the rest of the race.”
The third-place outing was his best of the season and second top five of the year.
“I was definitely happy with a podium,” Sams III said. “I felt like we had a car capable of winning, but it was just unfortunate circumstances.”
A runner-up result in a heat race on Saturday lined Sams III up on the inside of the third row for the main event.
“We got a really good first corner and were passing for second,” he said. “I was going into turn three when the same driver from Friday turned into me really hard. That spun me around and the last car on the track got into me. It bent the drag link. I was able to keep driving and I drove up to fourth. We were right on third when the drag link collapsed.”
Sams III was in contention for his second straight podium when the broken part ended his night early.
