HARRIS CLASH

We won the 25th Harris Clash last night at Hamilton County Speedway. I say we cause I cannot do this alone, not a racer out there that can. Its hard for me to ask for anything but I am surrounded by folks that seem to know when I need a helping hand and they come through for me. I don't take anything or anyone for granted and I truly know how lucky I am. When I started out racing, pretty much my sole sponsor was Dad. Dad has always been kinda the lone wolf, I came along and I wanted just a little bit more so with a lot of effort and trial and error and a lot of No's and ignored letters and emails, we have put together a team that I believe is one of the best in racing. Dad had a mentor when he started that was the best machine shop and engine builder around, Roger Siems. He taught Dad so much about engines that eventually, he was doing it himself but at a much higher level. Dad did a lot of research to get to the point in our engine program that put us where we are today, few in the business know as much as Dad. When I started racing, I had a lot more interest in chassis and suspension of the cars and I feel I got pretty good at that, so much so that eventually, Dad was building his cars like mine. A winning race car is the total package, engine and chassis and a whole lot of luck. Stepping out of my comfort zone and into the sport mod was entirely my decision as my Dad has no interest in this class at all but he has tremendous faith in me and has always let me do my own thing and fail or succeed. Success hasn't always been the case but that's a part of life. Because of our successes, Icon Pistons was the 1st to come along and 100% back my Dad. Scat Crankshafts was next followed by Howards Cams and Competition Products, Schmidt Machine, Engine Quest, Champions Brand Oil and Jomar Performance Products. They believe in what he can accomplish in his engines as much as I do. Trust me, he would and could still build us some awesome engines, but this sure has lightened his load and for that I am thankful. Great sponsors are proof of a job well done but there also comes some responsibilities with them, I haven't always lived up to those tasks but it has been my goal to change that and do so from here on out. My Mom and Denny think I can do anything and the rest of my sponsors always have my back. Johnny and his Jet Racing chassis are a fit for me and once I settled down and started to figure it out and quit driving it like my hobby stock, it started to feel better and make sense, Jet doesn't get near enough credit for what he knows and does for people but he has been a huge inspiration to me. This win is one I will always cherish and don't take it lightly as the class and talent of the drivers in our sport is 2nd to none. As race car drivers, our #1 goal shouldn't be to win, it should be to put on a show for the fans and now due to technology like IMCATV, and the people spending their money to watch us, if we don't, we wont be doing this for long. I got the amazing opportunity to work with My Race Pass and it is a marketing dream and really appreciate it. Andrew Burg, you keep me from being homeless and your help on my car is so appreciated, Shawn Stanton, thank you for your help and your support, you have been the big part of our recent success and turn around and of course Jamie Songer, without your shop and of course job, I would be unable to do this. Thank you Bob Harris for doing the hard work needed to keep this great tradition race alive and well and enabling me to have a chance to race it and Hamilton County Speedway for hosting it, love your race track. Received a very positive email this morning from a sponsor and they have offered to help with fuel costs to get us out to the IMCA Duel In The Desert in November so that is gonna be the plan.
