Eddy, Karl, Resor and Halcomb Win Special Memorial Day Weekend Features

The Sandusky Speedway had a Memorial Day special on Sunday night, May 29th, 2016, with a special $1000-to-win modified show won by Travis Eddy of Beaverton, Michigan. Clayton Karl would finally put an end to his brother Jerry's streak of wins in the sportsman division while Mark Resor would win his second feature of the year in the Street Stock division. Brandon Halcomb would also extend his win streak to two in the Hobby Stock division.

The Melinda! Melinda! Hobby Stock division would run a 25 lap feature event with Chris Nicastro and Joe Brooks leading the field to the green. Michael Parks would take the lead from the third position going into the first turn while Richard Clem would move to 2nd on lap four. Brandon Halcomb would take third in turn three on the same lap while teammate Dan Smith would move to fourth on the back straightaway on lap five.

Clem would take the lead in turn two on lap nine with Halcomb taking the runner up position in turn three on the same lap. Halcomb took the lead in turn three at the halfway point. Clem would then spin in turn three on lap seventeen. Dan Smith would take second on the front straightaway on lap eighteen but Halcomb would win over Smith, Parks, Clem, Brooks, Nicastro, John Collins and Jay Shields.

The modified division thirty lap feature would start with Jeremie Wiggins and Jason Drew leading the field to the green flag. Wiggins would take the lead in turn two while Chris Hamilton moved to second in turn three. Joey Morisette would move to third in turn one on lap two with teammate Travis Eddy moving to fourth in turn four on the same lap.

Hamilton would take the lead in turn one on lap five with Joey Morisette following him by Wiggins. Travis Eddy would take second on lap six in turn one and take the lead on lap twelve in turn three. Morisette would take the runner-up position at the halfway point with Doug Meyer taking the fifth position on lap twenty in turn one. Ryan Winningham would bring out the sole caution of the event on lap twenty-one.

Doug Meyer and Stephen Klinect would pass Wiggins for fourth and fifth with one lap to go in turn four, but Eddy could not be stopped. He would win over Morisette, Chris Hamilton, Doug Meyer, and Stephen Klinect. Jeremie Wiggins, Jason Drew, Kenny Sharp, Steven Drew, Jason Wells, and Shawn Marder would finish out the running order.

The speedway's next event will be on Saturday, June 11th, with modifieds, sportsman, street stocks, and hobby stocks as well as a power wheel demolition derby. Pits will open at three with hot laps at four. Qualifications at five-thirty will set the fields for the racing action slated to begin at seven o'clock.
