Driver Information

Born and raised in Fort Worth Texas, John South didn't start racing until he was 49 years old. South had a lifelong interest in cars and motorsports, but never thought about becoming a driver until a friend asked "why not". Without being able to come up with a good response, he decided that it was now or never. From 2011 to 2015 he raced with Auto Improvements and Justin Broome out of Grapevine, Texas. In 2016 he switched to JL Racing out of Springtown, Texas. Over the years he's run chassis from Destroyer, Vato, and a switch to GRC in 2022. South enjoys running at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, The Dirt Track at TMS, Kennedale Speedway Park, and Boyd Raceway. When asked about racing, South said “I might be old and slow, but at least I'm consistently old and slow."
