Thornton tops Midwest Winter Nationals in Winged Outlaw

With his Koehler Motorsports No. 20RT Late Model sitting idle over the weekend, Ricky Thornton Jr. traveled to Southern Illinois Center (DuQuoin, Ill.) on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Micro Sprint ranks for the Midwest Winter Nationals.

After scratching from the A-Class Wing feature and pulling off early in the Outlaw Non-Wing A-Main, Thornton salvaged a strong finish in the Winged Outlaw main event. He started in eighth and gained four spots to finish fourth.

Kicking off the month of March in victory lane on Saturday, Ricky swept the Winged Outlaw portion to register his sixth win of the season.

Earlier in the evening, Thornton posted a third-place finish in the Outlaw Non-Wing A-Main.
