Third in Rumley Engineering developmental car at Deer Creek Speedway

Remaining on a northern swing after his weekend with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series, Brandon Sheppard made his first start of the 2023 season aboard the Longhorn Chassis Rumley Engineering developmental car for the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.).

With 38 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on the grounds for the three-day event, Sheppard laid down the second-fastest time in his group before placing second in his heat. Starting the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature in seventh, Brandon advanced four spots in the 25-lap opener to register a third-place finish. He trailed Devin Moran and Jonathan Davenport to the checkers with Tim McCreadie and Tyler Erb.

For another $5,000-to-win preliminary on Friday, Brandon locked his spot into the show with a consolation victory after finishing fifth in his heat. Moving forward six positons in the 25-lapper, Sheppard salvaged a 12th-place finish.

With prelim results from Thursday and Friday positioning Sheppard on the third row for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50, Brandon ran as high as second before fading to third when the checkered flag flew in the 100-lap affair. He followed Bobby Pierce and Hudson O’Neal across the line with Chris Madden and Jonathan Davenport completing the top-five finishers.

Monday saw Sheppard returned to the driver’s seat of the Rumley-owned No. B5 Late Model at Dubuque Speedway (Dubuque, Iowa) as the XR Super Series rolled into town for the Dubuque Key City Clash. Starting the $20,000-to-win A-Main in second via heat race victory, Brandon rallied after a lap-18 tangle to finish third. He followed Bobby Pierce and Devin Moran across the line.
