Mike Marlar visits Deer Creek Speedway for Gopher 50 weekend

Remaining in The North Star State, Mike Marlar joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) on Thursday for the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 weekend.

With 38 Late Models entered for the three-day event, Mike locked his spot into the opening night preliminary feature with a second-place finish in his heat. Starting sixth, Marlar rebounded with a 14th-place finish after tagging the tail on the ninth circuit.

For another $5,000-to-win prelim on Friday, Marlar topped the 37-car field in time trials before placing third in his heat. Fading outside the top-10 in the feature, Mike logged a 16th-place outing in the 25-lapper.

With preliminary results from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 finale, Marlar was an early retiree from the 75-lap affair on lap 42.
