Salina Highbanks Speedway
NASCAR Weekly Racing Series continues Saturday
Well race fans, the temps have gotten warmer and so has the racing action at the Salina Highbanks Speedway. The NASCAR sanctioned Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series is set for another round of Highbanks action. Your favorites such as the Servpro of Mayes & Wagoner Counties B-Mods, Dawson Roofing Super Stocks, AmeriFlex Hose Factory Stocks, S&J Plumbing Pure Stocks and Colvin Aircraft FWD and RWD Trophy Cars will continue their seasonal attack towards the point standings on the lightning quick 3/8 - mile racing surface. Here is a look at some of the latest notes on each division:
National Contenders -
Webb City Missouri B-Mod pilot Mitch Keeter continues to remain in the hunt for NASCAR's Division I National title. Keeter is shown as just 36 points behind Carver Minnesota's Jacob Goede for the top spot. This is with points tabulated as of July 13th at press time and Keeter won another main event last Saturday at the Highbanks with the Servpro of Mayes & Wagoner Counties B-mod class. Ryan Gilmore of Springfield Mo. who won at the Highbanks on June 21st, has multiple wins around the region and is shown in 11th spot in the National standings. Gilmore won at Monett Speedway last Friday with Keeter second. Gilmore did not start the main event on the Highbanks on Saturday night.
Super Stockers -
Braden Jarvis won last Saturday's Dawson Roofing super stock feature. It was the second win of the season at Salina for Jarvis in only his third feature start. May 10th is when the Claremore Oklahoma racer won his other main event. Logan Brown, on the strength of 3 main event wins, leads the points. Randy Goins sits second just 42 points back and only 6 markers from that sits Randy Moses Sr.
Tug-O-War -
AmeriFlex factory stocks have a nice tussle going on. Jeran Frailey won his third straight main event last Saturday (which is his season total) while Dalton Garrison was second. Garrison has one feature win to hang his hat on yet he leads Frailey by 25 points. Consistency is the key here folks and it's doing justice to Garrison for the time being.
Winners Everywhere -
Of the eight S&J Plumbing pure stock events held thus far, we got our seventh different winner Saturday when a drop-in, Grant Davis of Muldrow OK, found victory lane. Only Jacoby Frailey has won twice in the economical class. Cole Holman of Locust Grove OK leads Larrett Daniels by a scant seven points for the number one points position. Now that's razor thin.
Mantleless Trophy Cars -
In the rear wheel drive division, Robert Lackey is sure enjoying his drive from Oklahoma City these days. Lackey first appeared at the Highbanks two events back and was a party crasher by taking the win from the homies. Lackey came back last weekend and backed his strut up by winning again. With this kind of success, we just may get a visit from our Oklahoma City neighbor more often. Jasie Morrow of Locust Grove is still looking to get that first win of 2025 but leads the RWD points by 13 chips over William Avila of Moore OK who has won five times this year. Come again??
The front end pulling power class, aka front wheel drive, saw Maddox Butler of Claremore take his first checkers of 2025 to become the fifth different winner in that class. Anthony Smith failed to finish Saturday's race but has the most wins in the class with four and currently leads the points by 91 with a tie for the runner spot with drivers Joe Hoover and Justin Heinze. Both of these divisions carry the Colvin Aircraft flags.
Cars Cars Cars -
With the Joe Duvall Funkadelic Dirt Track & Honky Tonk Extravaganza special modified race on the card last weekend, there were a total of 148 race cars in the pits. 148!!!! If you bought a pit pass to roam the area to see all the teams that night, you got your money's worth and then some! Tyler Wolff of Fayetteville, Arkansas (who is no stranger to the Highbanks) charged to the win and collected $4700 including bonus lap $$$ that was up for the taking. Might want to grab a pit pass this weekend and see the weekly warriors front and center.
There you go race fans, come on out Saturday night and watch some speed racers zinging around the Highbanks at will. We will have the entire facility all ready to go when we open up and we hope to see you join us for more exciting Highbanks Speedway entertainment!
