DOUBLE MODIFIED FEATURES & THE CONCLUSION OF THE BILL AG ELIMINATION RACES HIGHLIGHT THE AUGUST 2 RACING PROGRAM AT FONDA

By: Ron Szczerba

Fonda, NY – The first racing program in the month of August at the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway takes place this Saturday, August 2 with double Amsterdam Truck Center Modified features along with the conclusion of the Bill Ag Elimination Races. The double Modified features are the result of a rain out on June 28 and again on the makeup date on July 12.

The Bill Ag Elimination Races were rained out after two rounds back on June 28 with defending Fonda Speedway Track Champion Alex Yankowski winning the first two rounds that night against Cody Clark and Rocky Warner before the rain came in. Those two rounds were worth $1,700 to Yankowski who will face Ronnie Johnson in the next round on Saturday with Jack Lehner and Bobby Hackel IV awaiting the results of that race. A total of $10,117 in cash and gift cards is up for grabs in the 2025 Bill Ag Elimination Race events.

This year’s Bill Ag Memorial Elimination event is the 10th annual event with previous winners including Bobby Varin (2014), Ronnie Johnson (2016, 2017, 2021, and 2023), Tim Fuller (2018), Stewart Friesen (2019), Demetrios Drellos (2022), and Rocky Warner (2024).

The Fonda Speedway Kid’s Club will be holding their annual Backpack Night this Saturday so if you would like to donate a backpack please bring it to the Kid’s Club at gate two and give it to Ashley Abeling.

Also, this Saturday in support of Stewart Friesen after his vicious wreck in Canada this past week please wear your Stewart Friesen merchandise and show everyone that we are all thinking of him. Thoughts and prayers from the Fonda Speedway staff go out to Stewart along with his family, friends, and race team members who are all going through a very tough time right now.

Other divisions in action on Saturday, August 2 at Fonda will be the Swagger Factory Apparel Sportsman, the Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stocks, the Montgomery County Office for Aging Limited Sportsman, and the Fonda Fair Four Cylinders. All gates will open at 4:00 p.m. with hot laps at 6:00 p.m. and racing at 7:00 p.m.

With only three racing programs left before the speedway closes for the annual Fonda Fair here’s a look at the winners in all the divisions so far in 2025.

In the Amsterdam Truck Center Modifieds Stewart Friesen leads the way with five wins followed by Ronnie Johnson and Rocky Warner (one win each for both drivers in big block and 358-Modified competition) while Alex Yankowski, Cody Clark, and Jack Lehner all have one victory apiece.

If you are a race fan that gets to the track early, be sure to check out the history of the Fonda Speedway at the Fonda Speedway Museum & Hall of Fame which is located on the Fonda Fairgrounds at the rear of the parking area going down towards turn four. The museum is open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on race days and admission is free!

Fonda Speedway weekly feature winners, their race teams, and sponsors are invited the following week to display their cars at the museum and watch their feature win on Flo before the races. The victorious car display can begin as early as 3:00, and you are welcome to arrive and stay as late as your schedule allows.
