Sullivan Survives to Pick Up Win at Sycamore

Sycamore, IL (August 3rd, 2025) - The Midwest Legend Dirt Series’ first trip to the land of Lincoln proved fruitful for Ryan Sullivan as he took home his third feature win of the 2025 season at Sycamore Speedway. The win helped propel the #95 further in the championship lead as the series winds down.

A massive, 32-car field made the trip to the new track. Drivers were excited to get on the surface, and Sycamore Speedway gave them a track for certain. General consensus after Fall River Foundry Hotlaps were positive, with drivers and crew alike praising the facility.

N&S Towing Heat Races were first up, with Sullivan taking the first win. Lilly Fassbender and Carson Grob battled for the second spot near the end of the heat with the order being that at the end.

Adam Zellmer and Cohen Henze went at it for the second heat win. Zellmer was able to break through and work his way to the win while Henze was able to keep the second spot under wraps while Cody Moline came home third.

A driver with experience at Sycamore and excited to be back was the winner of heat three, Charlie Spoonmore. He picked up the win as Talyn Neuman tried chasing him down but was unsuccessful. Jeff Schmidt rounded out the top three.

Hayden Schmuhl stayed at the front of heat four and picked up another heat win, with Glenn Mitchell finishing behind him and Rob Maule, finally finding his groove, bringing home third.

Fastline Design and Graphics B-Main rolled to the raceway with Ryan Mech coming all the way from the back to pick up the win while Connor Carey, Mike Swenson, and Nate Werner all made the transfer spots to the A-Main.

The twenty-lap A-Main was ready to roll, with Lilly Fassbender and Cody Moline the front row. Green flew and Fassbender got the jump, with Sullivan falling in line and Zellmer doing the same up in third. Caution would fly early once for a car spinning, which would clump the field back together quickly. On the following restart, chaos kicked off and an eleven-car pileup on the front straightaway brought the red flag out very quickly. Four cars were lost from the scrape initially, with Grob dropping out after the following restart with issues as well. The field got back to racing shortly after with Zellmer the leader and Fassbender second, who both got together shortly after the restart as something broke on Zellmer’s #117, ending both their nights early. The green once again came back out with Sullivan the lead, Schmuhl second, and Maule third. Sullivan worked his way away from the field while Schmuhl and Maule dueled it out, with Maule getting the better run and moving up into second. Maule began to chase down the leader with the laps dying down. Eyes behind watched the flying Mech and Werner going from the back to the front as they charged through the field, both up double digits near the end. Sullivan negotiated lapped traffic well and was able to stay strong out front.

Ryan Sullivan crossed the line to pick up the win, starting off August strong. Maule came home second with Schmuhl in tow. Neuman brought home a strong fourth with Mech coming in fifth.

With the win, Sullivan extended his point lead and picked up awards from Rush Race Gear and Aero Race Wheels. Mech won the Professional Plating and Rush Race Gear Hard Charger award, with his run of sixteen spots.
