Chase Junghans tackles Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals
Chase Junghans joined a field of 38 competitors at the iconic Knoxville Raceway this past weekend as the half-mile Sprint Car Capital of the World hosted the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.
With preliminaries set for Thursday and Friday, Junghans was a scratch from Thursday’s B-Main after a slow start to the night saw him finish ninth in his heat.
Rebounding on Friday, Junghans timed in eighth-fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. Starting the $10,000-to-win prelim in 16th, he climbed two spots in the 25-lapper to finish 14th.
Junghans’ preliminary points over Thursday and Friday secured his spot in Saturday’s $75,000-to-win finale, however, his race ended early after contact with the frontstretch fence on lap four.
