South Georgia Showdown Expands to Four Nights & Two Tracks in 2026 with Addition of Swainsboro Raceway Doubleheader
Swainsboro Raceway Joins the 2026 Speedweeks Schedule as part of Hunt the Front’s Season-Opening Event with Needmore Speedway
MILTON, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2025) — The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series will expand its season-opening South Georgia Showdown in a major way in 2026 with a pair of midweek events at Swainsboro Raceway added to the two previously planned nights of racing at Needmore Speedway.
After debuting during the 2025 Georgia-Florida Speedweeks schedule as a midweek doubleheader at Needmore, the South Georgia Showdown will grow into a four-race slate in its second season, with Needmore in Norman Park, Ga., hosting a weekend doubleheader Jan. 30-31, while Swainsboro will host back-to-back races on Feb. 2-3. Each of the four Super Late Model features will pay $10,000 to win.
The expanded South Georgia Showdown gives both Needmore and Swainsboro the chance to shine as part of Speedweeks, the traditional start to the Dirt Late Model season. Needmore, which hosted its first Speedweeks event in 2025, will look to build on that successful debut, while Swainsboro joins the Speedweeks lineup for the first time, adding another historic Georgia venue to the winter racing tradition.
“We’re thrilled to be working again with Chance Smith and his crew at Needmore and to welcome JJ Williams and his team at Swainsboro into the fold for 2026,” said Hunt the Front Series General Manager Joshua Joiner. “The South Georgia Showdown got off to a great start in 2025, and expanding it into a multi-track event gives us the chance to build something even bigger. Both of these tracks bring a lot of passion and character to the sport, and we’re excited to continue growing this event together.”
While the 2025 South Georgia Showdown was a non-points event for the HTF Series, all four races will be official points races in 2026. However, drivers will only count their best finish among the four Showdown events toward the $50,000 championship chase. The series will also expand its “mulligan rule” in 2026, allowing competitors to drop two points races from their season totals. Additionally, drivers will now be able to drop races they do not attend, giving teams greater flexibility while keeping the championship battle wide open.
The South Georgia Showdown will serve as the launchpoint for the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series’ fourth season in 2026. Since its debut in 2023, the series has quickly grown into the Southeast’s premier Dirt Late Model tour, offering high-paying events at top tracks across the region and paying out more than $150,000 in total points fund money. The series is currently wrapping up its third season with a $50,000 championship weekend set for Oct. 10-11 at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., where the 2025 champion will be crowned.
