Southern Oregon Speedway To Host 2014 Season Opener For ASCS-Northwest

White City, Oregon- The 2014 campaign is just about to start for the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region. For the second time in series history Southern Oregon Speedway will host the opening leg for ASCS-Northwest and the first the 1/3-mile clay oval has had the honor since 2009. Southern Oregon Speedway, located just outside of the Central Point/Medford area in the town of White City, will kick off the season on Thursday May 22nd.

“We’re very excited to have the honor to host the first race of the season for ASCS,” commented Southern Oregon Speedway General Manager Chuck Prather Jr., “with all the talent that is expected to show up it should prove to be some of the best racing in the Pacific Northwest.“

The race will also be the first of four scheduled for the ASCS-Northwest Region’s Season Opening weekend being dubbed the "Triple Track Challenge". The series will venture north on Friday May 23rd to Lebanon’s Willamette Speedway before concluding with a two-day affair at Cottage Grove Speedway on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th.

When it comes to ASCS-Northwest sanctioned events at SOS eight have occurred with Roger Crockett the only driver to win more than once. Crockett has two wins including a victory in May of 2009 as well as last year's Speedweek Northwest event. The list of victors making a single trip to victory lane includes Shane Stewart, Henry Van Dam, Travis Rilat, Dan Menne, Jesse Hockett, and Jonathan Allard. Southern Oregon Speedway will also have the ASCS-Northwest Region back on Monday June 30th for their annual Speedweek Northwest event.

Be sure and don’t miss a lap of the action as the ASCS-Northwest Region as the area’s best 360 Sprint Car drivers will contest on seven different race tracks in three different states that include Oregon, Washington, and California.
