The biggest Modified event for Sunset Speedway Park would be conducted on Saturday September 6th as the “Banks Bullring” would host the Topless Modified Mayhem 100 presented by Dancin Bare. The event would be contested for one hundred laps around the ¼-mile clay oval with $1,000.00 cash going to the victor. A total of seventeen entries would be signed on the registration sheets representing the states of Oregon and Washington.

The Trinity Bikes/Oregon GMA/Three-Six-Nine Fabrication #12 Shaw of B.J. Wild from Redmond would be the driver to beat in the early part of the main event. Hillsboro’s Steve Suckow would get around B.J. Wild on lap nine to put his Prime-X Contracting/Perfection Automotive/James Gang Pizza/Sweere Trucking #37X T.R.E. in the lead. Suckow would blaze the trail until lap twenty-five when Doug Lockwood of Aloha overtook him.

Lockwood, in the Aloha Station Tavern /Perfection Automotive/Ross Electric/Curtis Trailers #66 Shaw, would be pitched in an epic battle with good friend Greg Walters for the lead. Walters, out of Banks and piloting the Robert Duncan owned Dancin Bare/Duncan Automotive/Somers Racing Engines/Warpaint Motorsports Graphix #09 Pierce, would briefly seize the lead only for the yellow flag to come out and give it back to Lockwood.

Eventually Walters would experience mechanical problems that would end his evening prematurely. Doug Lockwood maintained the lead for the rest of the distance to capture his fourth win of 2014 at SSP. Lockwood also joins Mark Carrell and Mark Wauge as former winners of the Topless Modified Mayhem presented by Dancin Bare.

Steve Suckow was a respectable second followed by the Tom's Performance/Dancin' Bare/Eric's Frame Shop #6X Dirt Works of Don Jenner out of Vancouver, Washington in third. B.J. Wild ended his evening fourth while Castle Rock, Washington’s Danny Daniels would place his Dancin Bare/T&D Tire and Wheels/Eric’s Frame Repair/Fast Under Car Portland #4D4 machine in fifth.

Don Jenner was fast qualifier of the evening out of all the cars in qualifying. Heat race winners were Jake Van Ortwick of Vancouver, Washington in his MAPS Auto Center/Andone Enterprize/DFI Performance/Justin Russell Trucking #53V Rayburn, Steve Suckow, and the Discount Race Car Parts/Gordy Lee Photography/Frisbie Motorsports/Bessette Family Racing #SW Shaw by Jeff Taylor of Corbett’s Collen Winebarger.
