Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (Oct. 16, 2017) – Trey Starks made his final visit of the season to Ohio last weekend when he and Gobrecht Motorsports tackled the final two Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions races of the year.

The action began on Friday at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, where Starks made his debut.

“I had a lot of fun at the track,” he said. “It got a little dry, but it raced really good. We qualified ok. The track cleaned up and times started getting quicker.”

Starks qualified 15th quickest overall and fifth in his group, which missed a spot in the heat race inversion by only one position. He then advanced from fifth to fourth place in the heat race to lock into the A Main.

“We dropped to sixth on the start, but climbed up to finish fourth,” he said. “I was excited to see what we could do in the main. Unfortunately, we broke a rear end and we didn’t catch it until right before the main. It wasn’t completely broken yet, but it wasn’t going to last very many more laps. We caught it when we were changing gears. That was a bummer we didn’t get to run the main event, but it’s a good thing we caught it.”

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Eldora Speedway, where Starks timed in fourth quickest overall and the fastest in his group. He then advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race to lock into a dash, in which a fourth-place result lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the A Main.

“I felt pretty good,” he said. “We adjusted some and I think we went too far with the car. We didn’t have a good car in the main. I struggled throughout it and couldn’t find speed. I couldn’t find where the car wanted to be and I couldn’t build any speed. That’s something we’ll have to work on the next time we go back.”

Starks battled inside the top 10 for most of the race before he faded to an 11th-place finish.

Starks will venture to California this weekend to compete Thursday through Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., for the 24th annual Trophy Cup. He will drive for Shannon Wheatley for the first time ever during the marquee event.

“I get to go to one of my favorite tracks,” he said. “I do enjoy Tulare. It’s a tough track. I know Rooster (Wheatley) and he’ll have real good equipment underneath me. I have no question it will get around the track really well.”
