Inside Line Promotions – LATROBE, Tasmania, Australia (Feb. 5, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi took a wild ride last Friday during his debut in Tasmania.

Scelzi was competing for his first top five of the World Series Sprintcars season when he got upside down during the main event. The incident not only hampered his result, it sidelined him for the remainder of the weekend as well as next weekend’s show.

“We had a really strong run going and I got into the wall in turn four,” he said. “We flipped pretty hard.”

The Wormall Motorsport driver was stout during his first career appearance at
Gulf Western Independent Oils Raceway. Scelzi qualified fifth quickest before he advanced from ninth to sixth place in his first heat race and powered from seventh to fifth place in his second heat.

“I think that was as good of a start to a night that we’ve had over here this season,” he said. “We set ourselves up really well and were moving forward in the A Main. I was looking forward to at least earning our first top five, but unfortunately the night ended with the wreck.”

Scelzi, who was credited with a 17th-place finish, elected to take Saturday’s event off to rest his body. The team will also skip this Saturday’s race at Solo Hobart Speedway in New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia, with the World Series Sprintcars to build a new car for the final four series races.

Scelzi is scheduled to return to action on Feb. 16 at Attwell Park Speedway in Albany, West Australia, Australia, before he wraps up the weekend the following night at Quit Bunbury Speedway in Bunbury, West Australia, Australia, with the World Series Sprintcars.

“Thanks to everyone at Wormall Motorsport for continuing to work hard,” he said. “We had a setback last weekend, but we’re focusing on finishing the World Series Sprintcars season strong.”
